Richard Mar is a Partner at DLA Piper’s Toronto office. Richard advises clients on all aspects of acquisition, transfer and protection of intellectual ‎property rights with a concentration on patent counselling and prosecution‎.‎ He also assists with patentability and infringement opinions, drafting licensing agreements, and ‎enforcing intellectual property rights. Richard is admitted to the bar in British Columbia, Ontario and New York and is a member of the Canadian ‎Bar Association and the American Bar Association.

Mike Reid is a Partner at DLA Piper’s Vancouver office and co-chair of the Firm’s Emerging ‎Growth and Venture Capital Group. Mike works with entrepreneurs, ‎founders and other ‎executives at startup and growth-stage companies at all stages of a ‎company’s life cycle from startup, through growth, to exit. His clients come from a ‎wide variety of sectors, including software to e-commerce, gaming to productivity tools, artificial ‎intelligence to VR/AR, healthtech, fintech, consumer goods, food and beverage, life sciences and everything in-between.‎

Keith Ippel: With over 25 years of experience as a leader in technology & impact businesses and as an angel investor, Keith has accelerated the growth of both small and large companies and raised over $80M in angel investment and venture capital. As a global keynote speaker, teacher, and advisor, he has an unparalleled ability to collaborate with entrepreneurs, employees, and investors to grow businesses and change the world. Ashima Chopra: As an advocate for innovation and a living embodiment of resilience, Ashima is a first-generation lawyer turned angel investor.
